Why Your Emotions Matter
Emotions are not here to harm us. They are here to guide us.
Emotions form the building blocks of consciousness, acting as crucial drivers of our intuition and signaling important needs within our bodies. However, this does not mean they are meant to control us or dictate our behaviours. Think of them as friendly passenger-side navigators that just want us to arrive home safely, who don’t always express their intentions as directly as we’d like. We must be patient with them, and learn to interpret their meanings with the best understanding we can, otherwise we can miss their signals and get lost, finding ourselves in a near-hopeless state, wandering aimlessly through desolate streets.
We must learn to listen and honor them, always. But this does not mean we obey their every impulse.
Because, often, their directions are not designed to lead us where we think they are leading us, at first glance. Have you every been irritable and snapped at someone nearby for a simple miscommunication or harmless mistake? You might assume this emotion originally stemmed from your annoyance with said person, when in reality it was more likely your mind-body reminding you that skipped breakfast, or that you are stressed about an upcoming obligation. That irritability was actually trying to tell you that you need some self-care in the form of a nutritious meal or relaxation ritual.
Emotions are the energetic expressions of messages sent from our bodies, souls and Spirit. Our emotions assign meaning to our lived experiences, shape our memories and define eras of our existence.
Every emotion, whether you choose to assign it “positive” or “negative” traits, contains vital information about what our bodies, minds and souls need for us to grow and stay safe.
In today’s world, we are incessantly bombarded by stimuli that our psyches were never designed to deal with. We are systematically encouraged to numb our emotions, to question their validity and to resist processing them in healthy ways. Our collective lack of emotional literacy impacts every facet of our personal lives and individual perspectives. This ignorance impacts our relationship to ourSelves as well with others, our understanding of the external world and our own inner world, the psyche.
In school, we are taught algebra, geometry and geography. We are not taught how to identify, process or understand our emotions.
Our mission is to unlock the omnipotent, omnipresent wisdom given to us by our Creator through the gift of our emotions.
