Solfeggio Frequencies Explained: Science, Healing Benefits and Uses

Imagine you could accelerate cellular regeneration, emotional regulation and access higher levels of consciousness by simply… listening? Through a process known as scientific tuning, certain sounds have been shown to achieve just that, and more. They are called Solfeggio frequencies, and they are proven to be more beneficial to the body and mind because they exist in harmony with the heartbeat of the Earth, in turn reflecting the same frequencies we experience throughout our various brainwave states. By listening to these frequencies, our cells begin to match their vibrations, allowing them to work in harmony with nature and the Universe. In essence, we are returned to our original, most optimal state of existence, removing energetic blockages to healing physically and psychologically.

What Are Solfeggio Frequencies?

Solfeggio frequencies are healing sounds that harmonize with the electromagnetic resonances between the Earth and the ionosphere, where the Earth’s atmosphere meets outer space. These frequencies are aligned with the “Schumann resonance” vibration of the Earth, named after the physicist who first measured electromagnetic discharges from lightning and classified the waves he discovered as comparable to “the Earth’s heartbeat”, to the tune of approximately 8 Hz. Solfeggio frequencies are tones that vibrate in harmony with the low Schumann resonance of the Earth.

Building on Winnfried Otto Shumann’s work, Herbert Koenig discovered these resonances matched the EEG recordings of five brainwave states, delta, theta, alpha, beta and gamma. These brainwave states are active during a range of biologically transformative human experiences, like learning, healing, sleeping and creating. Further research has confirmed the remarkable similarities between Solfeggio frequencies and human brain activity, suggesting that the Schumann resonance provides synchronization for higher brain function. Solfeggio frequencies include but are not limited to six different tones that harmonize with the Schumann resonance, which in turn can activate the corresponding brainwave state, allowing us to more efficiently synchronize with their biological transformative functions.

The Healing Benefits of Solfeggio Frequencies

The following list is a review of the nine primary Solfeggio frequencies commonly used across diverse mental, spiritual and healing practices.

174 Hz - The Relieving Frequency

The 174 Hz frequency can help to relieve us from pain and tension by relaxing the muscles, slowing our breath and reducing the heart rate. So, 174 Hz is ideal for drifting off to sleep, in quiet meditation or to use with the intention of releasing stress from the body, potentially alleviating some feelings of pain that are often aggravated by our stress-induced bodily reactions.

285 Hz - The Energy Field Frequency

The 285 Hz frequency is a favourite tone of energy healers, reiki practitioners and sound healers due to its ability to open up the chakra system, repair holes in the aura and balance energies. Low frequencies have been scientifically documented to reduce the experience of chronic pain in fibromyalgia patients, rheumatoid arthritis, menstrual pain and more, due to “the rhythmic stimulation of music” affecting our hormones, neurotransmitters and the limbic system, all elements of in sensory pain.

396 Hz - The Liberating Frequency

Music tuned to 369 Hz helps to remove self-limiting beliefs, subconscious fears and rewire subconscious programming, thus eliminating feelings of guilt, worry and anxiety. By reprogramming negative subconscious beliefs about our unworthiness, which leads to a feeling of hopelessness, we can remove fundamental blockages that prevent us from achieving our goals, allowing us to realize and actualize our life’s path and true potential. It is associated with the Root chakra, which is our energetic center providing our sense of safety, stability and belonging. Listen to 369 Hz to enhance your inner power and faith in yourself, when you want to feel more uplifted and secure in pursuit of your dreams. 369 Hz can also be incorporated into practices related to healing trauma, such as inner child or shadow work.

432 Hz - The Peace Frequency

432 Hz has been the traditional tuning frequency of many ancient musical instruments, from the Pythagorean Monochord to Medieval harps, and Tibetan singing bowls to ancient Egyptian flutes. By the mid-20th Century, the tuning of instruments shifted towards 440 Hz, which many famous musicians claimed created a more disconnected feeling from the music and its listeners. Today, research has shown music tuned to 432 Hz slows down heart rates and helps induce a feeling of peace and greater overall well-being. Its deeply calming and soothing effects make 432 Hz an ideal frequency to listen to when meditating, doing yoga, sleeping or whenever you need to reduce feelings of anxiety, and to relax. 432 Hz is often associated with the Sacral chakra, which is aligned with our right to feel.

528 Hz - The Healing Frequency

The science on the reparative effects of the energizing 528 Hz frequency is growing, and recent research suggests that it aids the healing and repairing of the body in several ways. Music tuned to the frequency of 528 Hz has been shown to significantly reduce stress in the endocrine and autonomic nervous systems, reduce the toxic effects of alcohol on cells, and even increase cell life spans by about 20%. So, listening to music tuned to 528 Hz can energize you mentally and physically, making it ideal background music for light exercise and stretching, during sickness or whenever you want to operate with the intention of healing and repairing your body. 528 Hz is associated with the Solar Plexus chakra, which guides our right to act.

639 Hz - The Love Frequency

The 639 Hz frequency is known to help balance emotions, elevate mood and bring harmony to our personal relationships by promoting communication and a positive mindset. So, 639 Hz can increase feelings of love, understanding, compassion and improve conflict resolution as well as unconditional self-love. 639 Hz is a profound energy that opens us up to vulnerability, intimacy and deeper, more meaningful interpersonal connections, so it is often used to help strengthen and repair relationships.

741 Hz - The Creative Frequency

The 741 Hz frequency works to expand your mind and creative expression by awakening your intuition and ability to tap into inspiration and imagination, through meeting your innermost Self. It is associated with self-confidence and empowers us to live as our truest, most authentic selves. Music tuned to 741 Hz also helps enhance problem-solving capabilities, cleansing of the body and the desire to live aligned with one's values. So, it is said to promote the ability to live simply, purely and to speak your truth. As such, it is associated with removing blockages of the Throat chakra.

852 Hz - The Higher Self Frequency

The 852 Hz frequency can awaken our intuition and inner strength by connecting us more deeply to our Highest Self and heightened states of self-awareness. The tone of 852 Hz is believed to help replace negative thoughts with positive ones, and is used to access greater clarity and communication from Higher versions of our consciousness and Spirit. Listen to 852 Hz when you feel called to live more in alignment with your spiritual path, to tap into your unadulterated intuition, actualize your desires and cultivate a greater sense of oneness with Universal forces. 852 Hz is associated with the Third Eye chakra, and can be used to aid astral projection and lucid dreaming efforts.

963 Hz - The Frequency of Gods

The 936 Hz frequency is used during meditative practices to awaken our minds to the interconnectedness of ourSelves and the Universe, promoting a greater sense of unity, divine alignment and protection. 936 Hz can invoke sharper visions when communicating with higher powers and the collective consciousness, and enhance the overall clarity of our thoughts, thus aiding in the pursuit of enlightenment. This high vibrational state is said to activate the pineal gland and help open the Crown chakra, giving us greater access to cosmic energy.
